Project Description

About San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus:
Community. Activism. Compassion. Since 1978, SFGMC* has brought harmony – and endearing playfulness – to the gay rights movement. The musically impeccable outfit’s first impromptu concert on the steps of San Francisco’s City Hall accompanied the vigil for the assassinated Harvey Milk and George Moscone. And the men have proudly waved the flag of inclusiveness, enlightenment, healing and unity ever since, from the historic Castro Theater to Carnegie Hall. The first openly gay chorus in the nation has persevered through the struggles of the LGBT movement, including the devastating AIDS crisis. Now under the baton of Dr. Timothy Seelig, SFGMC keeps the soundtrack of civil rights going strong.
