HOW PUNCH CARDS WORK

Buying Punch Cards:
Buy one at the beginning of the season, and redeem it for tickets to show or shows you want to attend all season long.  Or buy one and use it for a single show. Punch Cards are available for purchase online through this web site, or through the Box Office 435-655-3114.

Redeeming Punch Cards:
Your usage is tracked electronically, so any time you want to redeem your Punch Card for tickets to a performance, or find out how many ticket are remaining in your package, contact the Box office at 435-655-3114.  Your tickets can be mailed to your in advance (time permitting), or held for your at will-call before the show.  You also have the option to come to the box office  and pick them up during regular box office hours.

What’s a Reception Pass?:
A catered reception follows all performances.  Receptions are typically attended by Summer Concert Series sponsors seated in the front section of Reserved Seating, and special guests.  The artists sometimes make an appearance. Each Reserved Section Punch Card includes 4 reception passes.  Please tell the box office when you redeem your tickets which performance(s) you choose to use your reception passes for.

What’s a Reserved Parking Pass?
Reserved Parking is in Lot 1 at Deer Valley Resort, the lot closest to the venue entrance.  With a Reserved Parking Pass and Reserved Section tickets, getting to the venue and to your seats is smooth and easy.

The summer season kicks off with a little Latin-inflected, rock n’ roll on Independence Day as three sizzling acts take to the stage: Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Alejandro Escovedo.

Los Lobos – comprised of four East L.A. friends plus a saxophonist/keyboardist who came on board in the early ’80s – is still that authentic, smokin’ hot wolf pack of its early days. While pushing musical boundaries and resisting the siren call of commercial whims, the band has earned a fistful of Grammys and a chart-topping hit (a 1987 remake of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba”). Unplugged or not, the quintet dips into a vast ocean of genres – folkloric, blues, rock, jazz, R&B, country and Latin sounds – and always delivers an electrifying show.

Bringing a bit of their signature “Heaven” to the stage, the trio of brothers known as Los Lonely Boys has created its own remarkable brand of music: “Texican rock n’ roll,” which includes a solid dose of blues, rock, country and Tejano. The band’s rich sound and Santana-esque guitar skills are punctuated by irresistible rhythms and Grammy-winning tunes.

A Texas rocker with punk – yes, punk – roots, Alejandro Escovedo brazenly and poetically sings his way into each and every corazón in the audience. He is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, who has shared the stage with Springsteen among others while always forging his own path. In the words of Paste Magazine, “Escovedo has always been a fringe rock icon – never mainstream, but always the secret handshake those who know from those who think they do.”

“Part overgrown kid, part artistic maverick – and seldom, if ever predictable…”  (The Chicago Tribune), Bruce Hornsby brings lyrical, laidback charm and extraordinary musicianship to the stage. And though Hornsby’s solo career has included a slew of hits – “The Way It Is” and “Mandolin Rain” for starters – he also plays well with others, most notably as the ’90s piano man for The Grateful Dead. Rockin’ acoustic-roots-Americana band, Railroad Earth, teams up with Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers for the “Noise of the Earth Tour.”

Natalie Maines, lead singer of the Dixie Chicks, headlines a concert featuring her own brand of alternative rock at Deer Valley Resort on Tuesday, July 30. Maines is the final artist to join the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights outdoor concert series for 2013, which includes world-renowned talent ranging from Los Lobos to Jewel. Tickets are currently on sale for the entire series.

Maines, who is currently on hiatus from the chart-topping, country-rock Dixie Chicks, will release her first solo album Mother on May 7. The album is co-produced by Ben Harper and filled with rock-inflected covers, such as Pink Floyd and Eddie Vedder, as well as a few hits from her Dixie Chicks repertoire. As a whole, the album is a departure from the country style that propelled Maines and her band to stardom a decade ago.

“…her fearlessness blends with her compassion, wisdom and stunning vocal chops,” says NPR of Maines’ solo debut. That fearlessness – both artistic and political – has created controversy for the 38 year-old, singer-songwriter in the past. And that fiery passion has a way of making its way into her music.

“Natalie Maines has long been a voice to be reckoned with in any genre. We are proud to be one of the first stops on her brand new solo tour,” says PCPAF executive director Teri Orr.

The August 4 concert grew out of two profound, musical films that rocked Sundance Film Festival this past January. The faces and voices from “Twenty Feet from Stardom” and “Muscle Shoals” lend their rich, melodic stories to a groundbreaking, live concert. Named for the little Alabama town that drew some of rock and R&B’s biggest names (Aretha Franklin, Dylan, the Stones) to its recording studio and produced decades of hit tunes, such as “Wild Horses” and “Mustang Sally,” Muscle Shoals Live brings the “Singing River” to the mountains. The concert includes artists, such as David Hood of the Swampers, Harvey Thompson of the Muscle Shoals Horns, Angela Primm of Still Waters, jazz musician and vocalist Thomas Cain and some surprise stars.

And the “thunderbolt voice” (New York Times) of Darlene Love, the “Twenty Feet From Stardom,” well, star, shines in the spotlight. Though she was the quintessential backup singer, who recorded and performed alongside Elvis, The Beach Boys, Sonny & Cher… Love has carved out a well-earned solo career. This gospel-rooted, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee is rock n’ roll wrapped in a glorious, lord-have-mercy, booming voice.

Jewel performs August 24 with – as her name would suggest – rare beauty. With talent that goes beyond their Top 40 song, this Colorado-based band, has grown from Rolling Stone’s “Artists to Watch” list to legitimate rock stars. •  The Lawn is general admission located beside and behind reserved seating; patrons provide their own seating on blankets or low chairs.
